Recipe : Ebi Furai
Japanese ebi fry is a dish where shrimp is coated in batter and deep-fried, resulting in a crispy exterior and a tender, juicy interior. Typically, the shrimp is peeled, deveined, and seasoned with salt and pepper, then coated in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs before being fried. Ebi fry is often served with tartar sauce, and commonly accompanied by shredded cabbage, rice, and miso soup. It is a popular dish in home cooking, casual eateries, and restaurants.
Ingredients (2 portions):
6 Shrimp
1 Egg
2 Tbsp (30ml) Sake
Salt & Pepper, to your taste
Flour, as needed
Panko, as needed
Vegetable oil, as needed
Directions:
1. Take out the vain from the shrimps. Then, put in a bowl.
2. Pour sake to cleanse the smell and also add the flavor.
3. Put the frying oil in a pan and set it on medium heat.
4. Coat the shrimp with flour, then egg, then panko.
5. Gently add the shrimp to the oil and fry until brown.
6. Serve on a plate. Enjoy with tartar sauce!
